The “Old Coffin” is built on the identical, six-sided coffin shape but carries the distinct character of a lifelong companion. Here, the striking geometry of the crown is paired with a specialized hand-finishing process that gives the hat an immediate sense of history.

After the traditional blocking process, I carefully treat the surface of the 100% beaver felt with a gas torch. This deliberate flaming technique infuses smoky tones into the fibers, creating an instant, deep patina. Because this process is guided entirely by hand, the felt reacts uniquely every single time—making each “Old Coffin” a one-of-a-kind piece with its own distinct shading. The rugged durability and protection of the beaver felt remain completely untouched by this visual finish.
